A few months ago a furniture store down the street had for sale the most beautiful shabby-chic sideboard, it was love at first sight. The top was left baltic and the knobs, the rest was painted in a creamy-white shade….Mmmm. The price tag on it was about $450. Whew! Thats a price thats non-too-shabby! And certainly not one I was willing to pay.

Within the week I had ventured into one of the local thrift/charity stores, and waiting patiently for a new home down the back, was virtually the exact same shaped sideboard for sale! The entire unit was baltic, two spots on top would need a varnish, the draws a tad wonky, but for $80, I wasn’t going to complain!

I’ve since changed the handles and given it several coats of paint, and an antique wash. This is what it looks like now it’s had several coats of paint.  There is another post with it now taking pride of place in the kitchen.
